• CDC-Forestry UGM Holds a Series of Career Development and International Collaboration Activities in June 2025

In June 2025, the Career Development Center (CDC) of the Faculty of Forestry, Gadjah Mada University (UGM), once again demonstrated its commitment to preparing students and alumni for the world of work through a series of career development activities and international collaborations. These activities included various inspiring programs aimed at broadening horizons, enhancing competencies, and building strategic networks at the national and international levels.

One of the main activities was Global Education Pathways, held on June 14, 2025. In this event, four UGM alumni currently studying in Australia, Japan, Germany, and the United States shared their experiences obtaining international scholarships such as LPDP, ADB-JSP, DAAD, and Fulbright. The 96 online participants gained comprehensive insight into scholarship opportunities, application strategies, and study abroad experiences, motivating and preparing them for further study on various continents.
In addition, CDC-Forestry UGM, in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), held a Knowledge Sharing event titled “Seize Opportunities, Embrace Dreams, and Become Indonesia’s Golden Generation” on June 18, 2025. This event was attended by 23 participants offline at the Faculty of Forestry UGM and aimed to motivate young people to develop their full potential through various available opportunities.

To develop talent, CDC-Forestry UGM also held a Talent Development Class: Collabora-talk – The Art of Networking on June 26, 2025. This collaboration with the UGM Innovation and Creativity Center (GIK) featured speakers such as Dr. Rangga Dachlan and Hermudananto. This online event equipped 35 participants from the AGRO group at UGM with strategies for building professional networks during their college years, so they would be better prepared to compete in the workforce.
In addition to individual development activities, CDC-Forestry UGM is actively supporting the implementation of the 2025 UGM Tracer Study. This program aims to map the educational relevance, job readiness, and contributions of Faculty of Forestry alumni in various professional fields. The collected data will form the basis for curriculum development and strategies to improve graduate competitiveness, ensuring that the education provided aligns with job market needs.

As part of efforts to improve access to career information and services, starting June 30, 2025, the official CDC-Forestry UGM website can be accessed at https://cdc-forestry.fkt.ugm.ac.id. This website serves as a central hub for information on career opportunities, training, job openings, and relevant collaborative activities for students and alumni.

To expand its network and collaboration opportunities, CDC-Forestry UGM is in initial communication with various potential partners, such as MiriCanvas (an AI-based online graphic design platform), Beehive Drones (a drone-based mapping and monitoring solution), Daemeter (a sustainable natural resource management consultant), and CarbonEthic (a nature-based carbon project developer). This partnership is expected to open up opportunities for internships, research, competitions, and capacity-building programs in the forestry and environmental sectors.

This entire series of activities directly supports the achievement of several Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including SDG 4 on Quality Education, SDG 8 on Decent Work and Economic Growth, SDG 13 on Climate Action, SDG 15 on Life on Land, and SDG 17 on Partnerships for the Goals. Through these various programs, CDC-Forestry UGM is committed to continuously delivering innovation in capacity development, strengthening the career readiness of students and alumni, and expanding collaborative networks for a more sustainable future.
